2008 Ford Taurus X Limited

Nine weeks after the New Year, spring break had finally arrived. I am sure most people think spring break was designed to give students a rest. However, we teachers strongly believe it was meant for us to take a vacation. A week away from my 150 darling high school students is just what the doctor ordered.
My husband and I were off in the 2008 Ford Taurus X Limited to visit his family in San Diego. His family includes two parents, six siblings, and twenty nieces and nephews: not exactly what the doctor prescribed. However, I was able to relax during our 6-hour drive due to the Taurus X. I set the cruise control at 70 and turned up the SIRIUS radio. Since Matt doesn’t appreciate my love for pop music, he put the headphones on, sat in the third row of seats, and watched Old School on the DVD player. He kicked up his feet on the second row floor console and adjusted the rear AC unit to feel as comfortable as possible. It was nice that the Taurus X gave him a sense of control; he doesn’t really get that at home.
It was great to finally arrive in San Diego. We opened the power moonroof to let the cool weather in; it had dropped 20 degrees since we left Yuma. When we reached our destination, twenty kids from 3-months to 16-years-old came eagerly running out of the grandparent’s house to greet us. Just like back home when I get to school every morning. It was a good thing that the Taurus X has a reverse sensing system or we may have knocked a couple of kids down backing into the driveway.
Our first job the day after we arrived was to take our 14-year-old niece and her friend to the beach. Only after we left the house did she tell us that we had to pick up two more friends: both boys. Believing I was getting a vacation from teenagers, I was kind of disappointed, but since the Taurus X Limited has theatre-style rear seating and a DVD family entertainment center, Matt and I were able to turn on a movie and pretend they weren’t there.
The next day we celebrated two birthdays. We stopped at Walmart to buy our gifts that morning and were glad we had the Taurus X cargo area. They just don’t make transformers as small as I remember when I was a kid. We were lucky to have the power tailgate because it took both of us to hold the enormous transformer toy for Blaise and caboodle full of makeup and nail polish for Sophie.
We did get an opportunity to see our friends for a short time while we were there. We met Matt’s friend in Old Town for some authentic Mexican food and traveled to my friend’s house in Hillcrest for dessert. Since all of the hills make it a bit confusing to find your way around, we were glad we had the GPS navigation system in the Taurus X. That thing made us seem like native San Diegans.
Overall, our spring break in San Diego was terrific. The 2008 Ford Taurus X Limited was big enough for our large family, comfortable for my 6’2” husband, and fuel efficient for our travels.
