2008 Chrysler Jeep PatriotHIGH SCHOOL REUNION …  The Power of the Rogue
By: Melanie Droz

If I could have any superpower in the world, I would undeniably choose memory manipulation. If granted this ability, I would have been able to remember more than two people at my 10-year high school reunion last weekend.

Rogue - X-Men SuperheroWhy stop there? If I had the power of X-Men character Rogue, than I could obtain any superpower by simply touching a superhero that possesses it. The night before my reunion, I would have gone for powers such as: body part substitution (smaller butt), temporal duplication (bring back my high school body), invisibility (men’s bathroom), and X-ray vision (again, men’s bathroom).

With this in mind, it makes perfect sense why Nissan would name their first entry into a small crossover SUV segment Rogue after the X-Men character. This worthy addition to the Nissan line has the best capabilities all wrapped up in one playfully, unpredictable vehicle. The Rogue made a perfect date for my reunion. Despite its lack of actually giving me any superpowers, its venom red exterior and black interior managed to make me look darn good.

Above any other power the Rogue includes, its ability to demolish its competition reigns supreme. It received the best fuel economy ratings in its class; the Rogue’s average 22-mpg smashes the average for other small SUVs, which is only 18.76-mpg. In addition, the MSRP for the 2008 2008 Nissan Rogue InteriorNissan Rogue S 2WD is $19,430; that is a whopping $5,236 less than the average small crossover SUV. It seems like the Rogue acquired the power to give the average car buyer a good deal. Amazing.

The only difference between the Nissan Rogue and the X-Men superhero is the Rogue in the comic book considers her power a curse because it prevents her from making physical contact with others. On the other hand, the Nissan Rogue is going to have a hard time fending people off. Everyone will love its smooth car-like ride, swift handling, comfort and convenience, sleek design, and driver-oriented cockpit. Former high school classmates huddled around the Rogue when I arrived; I thought they were eager to see me, but it turns out they only wanted a closer look at the new crossover. Her powers must have been beaming.

Melanie Droz at her 10-year High School ReunionInstead of telling my old friends what I had been up to for the past 10 years, I was stuck by the dinner buffet answering questions about the Rogue. It was easy to brag, considering the 2008 Nissan Rogue S 2WD has 179 horsepower and 175 ft.-lb torque and comes standard with cruise control, 16-inch wheels, security system, and remote keyless entry.

Therefore, the Rogue’s capabilities surpass any superpower I could have brought with me that night. Without memory manipulation or the power to sport a smaller butt, I was still a hit at my 10-year high school reunion. It seems I’m not the only one who thinks the powers of the 2008 Nissan Rogue S 2WD are exceedingly impressive. Now, I will use my power to drive to introduce the Rogue to the rest of the world. Watch out!
