2009 Jeep Liberty Sport 4X4
By Melanie Droz
Just when teachers and students can’t take another second of each other, spring break arrives, wipes away our frustration, monotony and resentment, and for one whole week, we get to escape our reality and take a break.
I decided to soak up the sun and beautiful beaches in San Diego, California. No papers to grade, workshops to attend, teenagers to contend with. Perfect bliss. Just like when the sky slider full-open roof, a manufacturing first, is wide open on the 2009 Jeep Liberty Sport 4X4. I couldn’t have asked for a more tranquil SUV to take on this trip. It is like driving a convertible for the sport utility vehicle.
Although the view was relaxing, the premium cloth bucket seats were a tad snug. Despite the pounds I’ve recently shed with the Diradore Weight Loss program, I felt the legroom was insufficient and the buckets a bit confining. However, there was plenty of space for cargo. Below the cargo compartment cover, we were able to shade a cooler, two suitcases, and gifts for my in-laws.
My 16-year-old niece was the most excited to see us drive up in the Inferno Red Liberty, because she has been begging her mom for one since she received her driver’s permit. Since the Liberty was ranked 22 out of the top 27 Affordable Compact SUVs by U.S. News & World Report, her mom has been contemplating the idea. The MSRP is $23,825, but with the current, limited-time Employee Pricing Plus offer by Jeep, someone can get behind the wheel of this SUV for $20,192.
Although it was my spring break, I found myself working on a teenager’s behalf. I told her mom about the 5-star government safety ratings, the all-season tires, the fog lamps, the 4-speed automatic transition, and the hill start assist and hill descent control that come standard with the 2009 Jeep Liberty Sport 4X4.
On the other hand, Lindsey was more interested in the 1-year contract with Sirius Satellite Radio, the V6 engine, side roof rails, the 5,000-pound towing capacity, and the part-time 4WD system for off-road advantages. We both left out the fuel economy, since the Jeep Liberty only gets 15 city mpg and 21 highway mpg.
In addition to getting a tan, reading a book on the beach, and riding a bike along the boardwalk, I also helped convince a young girl’s mom to buy her daughter a car. A teacher’s job is never done.
