2009 Subaru Forester

After weeks of preparation, it was finally time to surprise Matt for his birthday with a 4-day trip to San Diego. Luckily, I was able to utilize two Foresters to help me pull this off. I had the 2009 Subaru Forester for the 355 mile road trip and the movie Finding Forester to show my students while I was gone for three school days. Both were equally as productive.
After the initial shock that we were on our way to celebrate his 29th birthday back in his hometown, Matt slipped into the comfortable Forester and easily fell asleep due to the Subaru’s smooth, carlike ride. Despite the fact that the 2009 Subaru Forester is considered a compact SUV, it has easy maneuverability and the power of a small, powerful sedan. Matt may have been dormant, but I was enjoying the lively performance of the Forester as I came into the hills of California.
Our initial stop was the Marriot downtown where I reserved a room for our first night in San Diego. Since we would be residing at a different location each night, it was great to have the cargo capacity of the 2009 Subaru Forester. Although the small station wagon is not a full-size SUV, there was plenty of room for birthday gifts, luggage, jackets, coolers, shoes, etc.
My first surprise for Matt was tickets to the Padres game. As an avid Padres fan, he was a bit disappointed to see Manny Ramirez and the Dodgers beat his team; however, he was pleased with the gift. I had four tickets total, so we did use the Forester to pick up two of his buddies. The interior room offered by this Subaru was quite satisfactory for the 6 feet plus tall guys I had sitting in the back.
Of course, we spent some time driving along the coast, stopping at various beaches, taco shops and clothing stores. It was nice to have the large moon roof in the Forester, since the weather in San Diego is always a cool 75 degrees. We even took pictures at the bluff where we married over one year ago. Instead of getting out of the Subaru and taking our picnic to the bluff, we used the AWD and drove to a cozy spot overlooking the ocean; we folded down the back seats and set up our tablecloth and basket. The Forester may have the rugged style of a traditional SUV, but it sure was romantic sipping wine and reminiscing.
I also planned an evening with all of Matt’s friends, which was a load of fun (for them). Boys will be boys. With that being said, I am glad the 2009 Subaru Forester has as many safety features as it does. It can get pretty rowdy with 5 boys in the car. With ABS brakes and side airbags, the Forester has earned itself five stars front and side impact crash tests and Top Safety Pick from Insurance Institute for Highway Safety. With so many loud people yelling directions at me, it was nice to feel safe in the Forester.
When it was finally time to come home, Matt slipped back into a deep slumber. He had quite a birthday, after all. With all that I had to plan and stress about, I was so glad the 2009 Subaru Forester offered a sense of relief. Since the gas mileage was good (20 city, 27 highway), I didn’t have to worry about spending my money there. In addition, at $19,687-$29,694, the Forester is an affordable SUV. Matt wasn’t the only one surprised on this trip, I was also pleasantly surprised with the overall performance of the 2009 Subaru Forester.
