There are some vehicles out there that just seem to fit me and the A5 is one of them. My first foray into the Audi 5 was in the venerable S5 which simply stated I loved. Despite the reduction in horsepower to 265 from 354 in the S5 I drove, this car is so cool that I really didn’t mind. I know part of the reason was that the test car came with the S-Line Sports Package. Audi says the A5 melds innovation and performance which I refer to as form and function and in my opinion they did just that with this car.
Inside the cabin you’ll find a lush interior with just the right amount of aluminum and wood inlays to look very good without going overboard. The back lit gauges are beautiful and very easy to read. My only gripe is the Multi-Media Interface system Audi uses. It can be a bit complicated at first and even a bit intimidating for some. I do have to admit that it’s waning with every Audi I drive and I’m supposing that as an owner one gets acclimated to it but for me it’s a bit over the edge.
The base price of the A5 is $41,200 and the S-Line Package the tester came with adds another $2900 for which you get the sports suspension package, 19-inch wheels with special performance tires, S-Line badging, sports seats and special interior accoutrements including a multi-function steering wheel. The test car also had the NavSystem, along with the Premium and Technology packages bringing the price to a hefty $50,185, not inexpensive but not bad for what you get. There’s a lot to the A5 and you can find out more…
