2010 GMC Terrain AWD SLT-2
By: Two for the Road USA
I’m celebrating my 38th year wedding anniversary and we decided to make a staycation out of it. You know, stay in town, but make it like a vacation. When I say we, I don’t mean Bill Z and me, I’m talking about my real husband Manny and me.
We decided to stay at the Hilton, El Conquistador Hotel in Tucson, play a round of golf,
dine at a nice restaurant and check out the Pima Air and Space museum on our way home to Phoenix on Sunday.
We made another big decision; we decided to take the Two for the Road USA test vehicle, the 2010 GMC Terrain AWD SLT-2 for the two hour trip. It really wasn’t a difficult decision, it was part of the reason we did a “staycation”. We wanted a great sound system for the ride as well as a SUV that would hold the golf clubs, suitcases, the cooler and room for a quick stop at the outlet malls. We were the only two adults going but we like to spread out and sit up high for the long haul.
The first thing I noticed on the Terrain was the large GMC grill and badges, which is quite the focal point, almost like Cadillac and their Escalade. Next I looked around the cabin to make sure it had everything I needed for this trip. There was a two-toned dash board, cool instruments and lots of room for the driver and passengers. The rear parking assist with a backup camera built in to the rear view mirror was perfect as I found out for later that day. It’s not like I can’t turn around to look who’s behind me but there was a medical convention staying at the hotel and the drivers were nutty in the parking lot.
The Terrain has a sunroof (which I kept closed in 106 temperatures), leather heated seating. (another no no) 8-way power driver seat, sliding 60/40 rear seat with three position recline, air conditioning, remote keyless entry, power rear lift gate, cruise, Pioneer 8-speaker AM/FM/CD with USN, XM Satellite, lots of storage, compass and many more fun things to touch.
The second row of seats had no passengers, just luggage, but there is plenty of leg room. I had a few tall doctors from the convention check it out in the parking lot. They had an easy time getting in and out. With the second row of seats laid down the total cargo space is about 63.9 cubic feet.
The test vehicle with the add ons was $36,885.00. A standard Terrain is about $31,000.00. This package included a 2.4L 4-CYL engine, 6-speed transmission, antilock brake system, lots of air bags, child safety latch system, remote start, ( love that) one-year OnStar safe and sound system and a gently lit vanity mirror so that when I looked at myself, I didn’t look like I was married 38 years.
The trip was great. Golfing, room service, swimming, massage and dinner at a steakhouse called Sullivan’s and in just two days. On our way home on Sunday we took the full-on tour of the Pima Air Space Museum. My husband is a WW II buff so he was really in to the planes and the history. I’m a car buff, so I was happy we had the 2010 GMC Terrain on the trip. It may not have the history that the planes did, but it added to our very memorable trip that might just one day go down in history.
