Just when you thought you were running out of parks and Chucky Cheese restaurants to entertain and educate your grandchildren a jewel in the desert pops up. You could spend the day at the Children’s Museum of Phoenix and never run out of things to do.
I found the adults as engaged as the children and actually even the employees of the museum were like grandparents and nannies to the children running around. They were keeping the activities neat and clean and organized. There were set rules and regulations and when one child was lost the staff handled it so quickly, orderly and the mom was found immediately.
I recommend this museum for those that live in Phoenix but would also put this on your list of places to see when you are in from out of town with the children or grandchildren.
I will quote the mission statement of the children’s museum because it is said so eloquently.
Acting on the principle that learning is a joy, the Children’s Museum of Phoenix’s mission is to engage the minds, muscles, and imaginations of children and the grown-ups who care about them. With 35,000 square feet of hands-on, interactive exhibits designed for children ages birth to ten, the Museum focuses on learning through play, with emphasis on early childhood education and school readiness.
You can see by the photos that you can be as involved as you want or just let them roam around under your watchful eye. This brings up a very good point; there are strict entrance rules at the museum. No adults are allowed in the museum without a child. This is one way they are able to control those adults whose intentions are not in the best interest of our children.
Admission is $9.00 per person and children under one are free.
